Kwara State | Senator
Oyelola Yisa Ashiru, popularly known as Lola Ashiru, is a Nigerian architect and politician serving as the Deputy Senate Leader in the 10th National Assembly. Born on June 14, 1955, in Offa, Kwara State, he studied Environmental Design and Architecture at the University of Lagos and is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Architects.
Before politics, he built a successful career in architecture and real estate and served as Chairman of the Kwara State Town Planning and Development Authority. He entered politics through parties like AD and ACN before joining the APC.
Ashiru has represented Kwara South in the Senate since 2019. In the 9th Senate, he served on key committees, and in the 10th Senate, he became Deputy Chief Whip in 2024 and Deputy Senate Leader later that year. He remains influential in national politics and is seen as a potential contender for the 2027 Kwara governorship.
