Lagos State | Senator
Idiat Oluranti Adebule (born 27 November 1970) is a Nigerian educationist, writer, and politician who has served as the Senator representing Lagos West Senatorial District since 2023. She previously served as the Deputy Governor of Lagos State from 2015 to 2019, becoming the sixth woman to hold the office.
Born in Ojo, Lagos State, Adebule received her early education at Awori College, Ojo, and studied Islamic Education at Lagos State University (LASU). She later earned a Master’s degree in Curriculum Studies and a Doctorate (PhD) from LASU, alongside professional certifications in early childhood development and school administration.
Her career began in academia as a lecturer at Michael Otedola College of Primary Education and later at Lagos State University, where she contributed to reviewing the Lagos State Education Policy Document.
In public service, she has held several key roles, including Commissioner at PP-TESCOM (2000–2005), Board Member of the Lagos State Scholarship Board, Secretary to the State Government (2011), and Deputy Governor of Lagos State (2015–2019), before her election to the Senate in 2023.
