Senator Simon Bako Lalong (born May 5, 1963) is a Nigerian lawyer and politician representing Plateau South in the 10th National Assembly under the APC.
Born in Shendam, Plateau State, he holds an LL.B. from ABU Zaria, B.L. from Nigerian Law School, and an LL.M. from the University of Jos.
He practiced law before entering politics in 1999 and later became the longest-serving Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly (2000–2006), also serving as Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of Nigeria.
He was Governor of Plateau State (2015–2023) and Chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum. In 2023, he briefly served as Minister of Labour and Employment before joining the Senate.
As of 2026, he is Chairman of the Senate Committee on Electoral Matters and INEC and Deputy Chairman of Judiciary, Human Rights, and Legal Matters, and is active in promoting national unity and security.
He is a recipient of the CON national honor, married to Regina Lalong, and they have three children.
