Zamfara State | Senator
Senator Sahabi Alhaji Ya’u (born July 16, 1956) is a veteran Nigerian politician and long-serving lawmaker representing Zamfara North in the 10th National Assembly under the APC.
He holds an MBA from Bayero University, a PGD in Management from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, and an HND from Kaduna Polytechnic.
First elected in 2007, Ya’u has served in multiple Assemblies (6th, 7th, 9th, and 10th). He was elected under ANPP, later joined the PDP, and eventually returned to the APC, where he once served as Deputy Senate Minority Whip.
As of 2026, he chairs the Senate Committee on National Atomic and Nuclear Energy and the Committee on Cooperation and Integration in Africa and NEPAD.
Recently, he renewed his APC membership, advocated for Zamfara’s inclusion in ambassadorial appointments, and supported party grassroots registration efforts in his district.
