Benjamin Okezie Kalu (CFR) is a Nigerian lawyer and legislator serving as the Deputy Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives. He represents Abia State and is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Born on May 5, 1971, in Agbamuzu, Bende LGA, Abia State, he holds an LL.B and LL.M (Distinction) from the University of Calabar, an MBA from Oxford Brookes University, and earned two Ph.D. degrees in 2025—in Public Policy and Strategic Studies (University of Abuja) and in Law (University of Calabar).
Kalu began his political career at 21 and became the youngest Local Government Chairman of Bende LGA at 31. He served as Senior Special Adviser to former Abia State Governors Orji Uzor Kalu and Theodore Orji. In the 9th Assembly (2019–2023), he was House Spokesperson and Chairman of the Committee on Media and Public Affairs. In the 10th Assembly (2023–present), he serves as Deputy Speaker and chairs the House Committee on Constitution Review.
He has sponsored over 100 bills, including the establishment of the South-East Development Commission (SEDC), and holds national and traditional honors, including CFR, Enyi Abia, and Utabiri Bende. He is married to Ifeoma Kalu, and they have five children. He is also a member of the Nigerian Bar Association and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIARB UK).
