Dickson Dominic Tarkighir (born April 12, 1969) is a Nigerian politician and APC lawmaker representing the Makurdi/Guma Federal Constituency of Benue State in the 10th National Assembly.
Born in Makurdi, he received his early education at St. Thomas Primary School Ibume and Nongov Community Secondary School, Tse-Kyo. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Ambrose Alli University and an MBA from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and is pursuing a doctorate in leadership studies at the Nigerian Defence Academy.
Before entering politics, Tarkighir worked in electronics retail and aviation and later founded Dasnett Mobile Services. He also served as MD/CEO of Triggar and Gibbons Ltd. He was Senior Special Adviser on Industry to the Benue State Governor from 2009 to 2014.
He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2015, served in the ECOWAS Parliament, and was re-elected in 2023. In the 10th Assembly, he chairs the House Committee on Constituency Outreach.
Tarkighir is known for sponsoring motions and bills on security, healthcare, and rural development, including calls for emergency action over insecurity and projects such as solar streetlights, boreholes, and skill centers. He is married with children and is recognized for his fluency in Hausa, which enhances his cross-cultural engagement.
