Hon. Chief Dr. Billy Famous Adesuwa Osawaru (born October 7, 1971) is a Nigerian politician representing the Orhionmwon/Uhunmwode Federal Constituency of Edo State in the 10th National Assembly.
He holds a PhD in International Business and is widely known by the traditional title Obazuhunwa of Benin, along with other honorary distinctions. Before entering politics, he worked in the corporate sector abroad and was involved in grassroots civic activities.
Elected in 2023 under the APC, he serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Cooperation and Integration in Africa and Vice Chairman of the Committee on Poverty Alleviation. He has sponsored major legislation, including a bill to establish a Federal Medical Centre in Ehor to improve healthcare access.
Osawaru has focused on infrastructure and empowerment, facilitating solar streetlights, road grading, and community support programs through his “Billy Media” outreach. His efforts earned him a Humanitarian Service Award in 2025.
Known as “The Proud Benin Chief,” he advocates for Benin cultural interests and maintains active engagement with constituents through regular town hall meetings and constituency outreach.
