Rt. Hon. Prof. Julius Omozuanvbo Ihonvbere (born June 25, 1956) is a distinguished Nigerian academic, human rights activist, and veteran politician, currently serving as the Majority Leader of the 10th House of Representatives. He represents the Owan East/Owan West Federal Constituency of Edo State under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Before and during early 2026, he has been actively involved in legislative leadership, representing the House at major policy forums, including discussions on electoral reforms and recent tax legislation.
He has an extensive academic background, holding degrees from Obafemi Awolowo University (BA), Carleton University (MA), and a PhD in Political Science from the University of Toronto. As a scholar, he has taught at universities in Nigeria, Canada, and the United States, including the University of Port Harcourt, the University of Toronto, and the University of Texas at Austin.
A former Nigerian Diaspora pro-democracy activist, he also worked with the Ford Foundation in New York. In public service, he served as Special Adviser on Programme and Policy Monitoring to President Olusegun Obasanjo and as Secretary to the Edo State Government under Governor Adams Oshiomhole.
He has received the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) and holds several traditional titles, such as Iyase of Iuleha and Irialugie of Auchi Kingdom. He remains a noted figure in both academic and political circles.
