Gombe State | House of representatives
Hon. Usman Bello Kumo, born on September 14, 1966, in Kumo, Gombe State, is a Nigerian politician and lawyer serving as the Chief Whip of the 10th House of Representatives. He represents the Akko Federal Constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He earned an LLB from Bayero University, Kano, where he was active in student leadership, serving as SUG President in 1997/1998. Kumo began his political career as Executive Chairman of Akko Local Government (two terms) and later served as Secretary of Gombe State Independent Electoral Commission in 2005.
He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2011 and has since been re-elected in 2019 and 2023, notably being the only APC candidate from Gombe State to win in 2023. He has chaired the House Committee on Police Affairs twice.
In July 2023, he was appointed Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, and he is widely seen as a potential candidate for higher office in Gombe State in 2027.
