Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Alhassan Ado Garba, popularly known as Alhassan Ado Doguwa, is a highly experienced Nigerian lawmaker and one of the longest-serving members of the National Assembly. He currently represents the Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency of Kano State in the House of Representatives under the All Progressives Congress (APC) and is serving his sixth term in office.
In the 10th National Assembly, he is the Chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream) and the Special Committee on Oil Theft and Losses, where he plays a central role in overseeing Nigeria’s oil exploration sector and combating crude oil theft. He also serves as the Leader of the Northern Members Caucus, coordinating legislative interests across the northern states. Previously, he held key leadership positions as Majority Leader in the 9th Assembly and Chief Whip in the 8th Assembly, reflecting his seniority and influence within parliament.
Known for his outspoken and assertive style, Ado Doguwa has been a vocal advocate on national security issues. In late 2025, he publicly challenged the federal government over worsening insecurity in the North, calling for stronger action to protect citizens.
Academically, he earned a First Class degree in Mass Communication from Bayero University, Kano. His political career began in 1992 during the Third Republic, giving him over three decades of legislative experience. In recognition of his contributions to national development and lawmaking, he was awarded the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).
