Nasarawa State | House of representatives
Hon. Jeremiah Umaru, popularly known as JJ Umaru, is a Nigerian chartered accountant and lawmaker serving in the 10th National Assembly. Born in 1983, he received his early education in Nasarawa State and earned degrees in Accounting and Finance from the University of Jos and Nasarawa State University, later completing a Ph.D. in Business Administration. He is a certified professional accountant and tax practitioner.
Before politics, he worked in auditing, public finance, and regulation, including roles with the Nasarawa State Local Government Service Commission, the Lower Benue River Basin Authority, and the National Pension Commission. He also manages a private agribusiness and logistics firm.
In politics, he represents the Akwanga/Nasarawa Eggon/Wamba Federal Constituency under the APC and serves as Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts. He promotes regional development, youth empowerment, and infrastructure, and serves as a Vice President of WAAPAC.
He holds traditional titles, including Jakadan Wamba, and is known for philanthropic initiatives focused on water access, education, and community peace.
