Hon. Zakariya Tijjani Zannah Zakariya, popularly known as Tijjani Zanna Zakariya, is a veteran Nigerian politician and legislative leader representing the Machina/Nguru/Karasuwa/Yusufari Federal Constituency of Yobe State. Born on September 27, 1966, he hails from Yusufari Local Government Area.
He completed his primary and secondary education in Yobe State and holds a West African Senior School Certificate, with additional studies in public administration or social sciences.
Zakariya began his political career as Speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly, serving from 1999 to 2007. He later served as Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs between 2012 and 2019. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2019 and re-elected in 2023 under the All Progressives Congress.
In the National Assembly, he currently chairs the House Committee on Science and Technology and has previously led the Committee on Basic Education and served as Vice Chairman of the Committee on Reformatory Institutions.
He is widely known for his grassroots development efforts, including scholarship programs, economic empowerment initiatives, and infrastructure projects such as school buildings, boreholes, and health facility renovations across his constituency.
