Senator Shehu Buba Umar (born October 2, 1976) is a Nigerian politician representing Bauchi South in the 10th National Assembly under the APC.
He was born in Nabordo village, Bauchi State, and holds a Bachelor’s degree from ABU, Zaria, and a Master’s degree from the University of Jos in Conflict, Peace, and Resolution Management.
Before entering the Senate, he worked as a teacher, business executive, and political adviser, serving as a Special Assistant to a former Bauchi governor and as a Special Adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. He also led committees on farmers–herders conflict resolution and served as an executive in the oil and gas sector.
Elected in 2023 with 175,505 votes, he initially chaired the Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence and later became Chairman of the Livestock and Animal Husbandry Committee.
Known locally as “Mujaddadi,” he is active in community development, providing boreholes, roads, empowerment tools, and agricultural support. As of 2026, he is being discussed as a potential 2027 Bauchi governorship candidate.
