Umo Bassey Eno (born April 24, 1964) is the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, sworn in on May 29, 2023. He began under the People's Democratic Party (PDP) but defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in June 2025. Born in Enugu and a native of Ikot Ekpene Udo, he holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Public Administration (University of Uyo), an MBA (Lagos State University), and a PhD in Public Administration.
Eno’s career spans banking, entrepreneurship, and ministry. He worked at Union Bank, led Norman Holdings, founded the Royalty Group, and established All Nations Christian Ministry International, earning the nickname “Governor of Royalty.” He also served as Akwa Ibom’s Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources (2021–2022).
His administration is guided by the A.R.I.S.E Agenda (Agriculture, Rural Development, Infrastructure, Security, Education). In 2026, he signed a ₦1.584 trillion budget, 76% for capital projects, funding over sixty priority initiatives including Arise Park and Resort, airport expansion, and rural roads. He has received multiple “Governor of the Year” awards. Eno was married to Pastor Patience Umo Eno until her passing in 2024 and has six children.
