Edo State | Governor
Senator Monday Okpebholo, popularly known as Akpakomiza, is the Governor of Edo State, sworn in on November 12, 2024, after winning the 2024 gubernatorial election under the All Progressives Congress (APC). Born on August 29, 1970, in Irrua, he holds a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and a Master’s in Policy and Leadership Studies from the University of Abuja.
Before politics, he was a successful entrepreneur in hospitality, construction, oil and gas, and ICT. He represented Edo Central Senatorial District in the 10th National Assembly (2023–2024) and chaired the Senate Committee on Public Procurement.
His administration is guided by the “SHINE” Agenda—Security, Health, Infrastructure, Agriculture, and Education. The ₦939.85 billion 2026 “Budget of Hope and Growth” focuses on city transformation, rural roads, healthcare, solar-powered electricity, and functional boreholes. He is married to Blessing Okpebholo, has four children, and is a member of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
