Senator Hope Odidika Uzodimma, CON, is the Governor of Imo State, currently serving his second and final term since January 15, 2024, following re-election in November 2023. Born on December 12, 1958, in Omuma, Oru West LGA, he holds a Bachelors in International Studies and Diplomacy from Washington University, St. Louis, an Advanced Diploma in Transport Studies from FUTO, a Master’s in Human Relations from UNN, and an Honorary Doctorate in Management from FUTO.
Before politics, he was a businessman in the oil and gas sector and later served two terms as Senator for Imo West (2011–2019), chairing the Senate Committee on Customs and Excise. He became governor in 2020 after a Supreme Court ruling and is now in his second term.
His administration emphasizes the “3R” Initiative (Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, Recovery) and the “Shared Prosperity” agenda. The 2026 ₦1.4 trillion budget focuses on economic transformation, infrastructure, electricity, and airport upgrades. He chairs the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) for APC governors. He is married to Barr. Chioma Uzodimma and has seven children.
