Kaka Shehu Lawan (born March 18, 1974) is a Nigerian legal expert and politician, currently serving as Senator for Borno Central in the 10th National Assembly. He was born in Borno State and holds a Diploma in Civil Law, an LL.B from the University of Maiduguri, and was called to the Bar in 2004. He was elevated to Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in 2024.
Professionally, Lawan has served as a law lecturer, Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General of Borno State, and Special Adviser on Legal Matters to the governor.
He was elected to the Senate in 2023 under the APC, succeeding Kashim Shettima. He currently chairs the Senate Committee on Special Duties and was instrumental in the 2025 establishment of the University of Agriculture and Entrepreneurship in Bama.
Lawan is noted for his constituency empowerment programs, philanthropy, and close political mentorship under Vice President Kashim Shettima and Governor Babagana Zulum, supporting orphans, vulnerable groups, and youth development in Borno State.
