About Hon. Adetola Kafilat Ogbara

Hon. Adetola Kafilat Ogbara is a Nigerian entrepreneur and politician representing the Kosofe Federal Constituency of Lagos State in the House of Representatives under the All Progressives Congress (APC). Elected in 2023, she is serving her first term in the 10th National Assembly and is the first woman to represent her constituency at the national level.

In the House of Representatives, she serves as the Chairperson of the Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development, where she champions policies and programmes focused on women, children, and vulnerable groups. She is also a strong advocate for gender inclusion and plays an active role in promoting the Special Reserved Seats for Women Bill. In addition, she represents the Southwest at the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) and serves on other strategic committees.

Hon. Ogbara has made notable contributions to constituency development through empowerment, education, and health initiatives. In January 2026, she launched the “Renewing Hope for Shared Prosperity” programme, which empowered over 1,000 residents. Her interventions also include scholarships for female students, distribution of learning materials, vocational training advocacy, and the establishment of ICT and community health projects.

She holds a B.A. in English Language and Literature, a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy, and a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Lagos. Before entering politics, she built a successful career in property management and media, serving as a television presenter on NTA’s Faces and Events and as Managing Director/CEO of the National Mirror newspaper.

In recognition of her public service and community impact, she was conferred with the traditional title of Yeye Sewa of Lagos in January 2026 by the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Babatunde Akiolu I.
