About Hon. Adewale Hameed

Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Hameed Adewale Waheed, is a Nigerian medical doctor and politician representing the Agege Federal Constituency of Lagos State in the House of Representatives under the All Progressives Congress (APC). He is serving his first term in the 10th National Assembly, having been elected in 2023.

In the House, he serves as the Vice Chairman of the Committee on Police Affairs and is recognized as an active contributor to legislative reforms. He co-sponsored the Nigeria Consumer Credit Corporation (CreditCorp) Bill with Speaker Abbas Tajudeen to expand access to consumer credit for working Nigerians, and also supported constitutional amendments aimed at strengthening local governance. He has further advocated for improved funding of the National Orientation Agency to enhance civic reorientation and social stability.

Dr. Waheed has an extensive background in public service and healthcare. He holds an MBBS degree from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, and a Master’s degree in Humanitarian and Refugee Studies from the University of Lagos. Before joining the National Assembly, he served as Lagos State Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs (2020–2023) and earlier as Commissioner for Special Duties (2011–2015). His political career began in 1999 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, where he chaired the Committee on Health and promoted policies for free emergency treatment of accident victims.

As a legislator, he maintains strong ties with his constituency through regular community engagements and youth-oriented programmes, including support for local sporting initiatives. He is also a vocal supporter of national development policies, particularly in the areas of security, education, and infrastructure.
