Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Akanni Enitan Dolapo-Badru, popularly known as DOLBAD, is a seasoned Nigerian politician, academic, and business executive currently serving his third term as the Member of the House of Representatives for Lagos Island I Federal Constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC). Born on January 30, 1953, he combines legislative experience with strong administrative and private-sector expertise.
In the 10th National Assembly, Dr. Dolapo-Badru serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on Industry, where he provides oversight on industrial development, manufacturing, and enterprise growth. He is a proactive lawmaker with several important bills to his credit, including amendments to the Industrial Training Fund Act, National Road Traffic Regulation Act, and the National Sugar Development Council Act. He has also sponsored notable motions, such as those calling for the removal of fuel tankers from Eko Bridge to prevent structural damage and for federal compensation for victims of the Abule Ado explosion.
Dr. Dolapo-Badru is widely recognized for his people-oriented constituency interventions. Through his “DOLBAD Score Card” initiatives, he has implemented regular aquaculture and fish-farming training programmes, which in late 2025 supported beneficiaries with cash grants and technical resources. He has also demonstrated strong social responsibility by distributing “Aged Relief Packages” to hundreds of elderly residents, providing food items, health insurance support, and financial assistance. In addition, he has facilitated the construction of modern classroom blocks at Teslim Elias and Union Baptist Primary Schools and supported the rehabilitation of key roads such as Cole and Elegbata Streets on Lagos Island.
Before joining the National Assembly, he served in the Lagos State Executive Council as Commissioner for Youth and Social Development from 2007 to 2015 and earlier as Special Adviser to then-Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu between 2003 and 2007. His academic background includes a PhD in Business Administration (1997) and a Master’s degree in Business Administration (1991). He is also the Founder and Chairman of DOLBAD Insurance Brokers, reflecting his strong engagement in the private sector.
