About Hon. Ahmed Munir

Rt. Hon. Engr. Ahmed Munir is a Nigerian petroleum and natural gas engineer and a ranking lawmaker serving in the 10th National Assembly as the Member representing Lere Federal Constituency of Kaduna State under the All Progressives Congress (APC). Born on September 9, 1980, he combines strong technical expertise with active legislative leadership.

In the House of Representatives, Hon. Munir serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on Commerce, where he plays a key role in shaping national trade policy, investment regulation, and market development. He is also an influential member of the ECOWAS Parliament and serves as Vice Chairman of the ECOWAS Committee on Infrastructure, strengthening Nigeria’s regional cooperation on development and connectivity. Following the presentation of the ₦58.18 trillion 2026 Appropriation Bill, he reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that federal investments support local farmers and enhance commercial activities in Lere, particularly in its maize-producing communities.

As a legislator, he has sponsored and supported important bills, including the National Security Coordination Centre (Establishment) Bill and amendments to the Financial Reporting Council Act, reflecting his interest in security, transparency, and institutional reforms.

Hon. Munir is widely recognized for his extensive constituency development projects. He facilitated a ₦26.7 billion power project that connected Lere to the national grid through the installation of a 2×60 MVA 132/33 KV substation, significantly improving electricity supply. He has also overseen the reconstruction of multiple bridges and box culverts in areas such as Nasarawa, Sigau, and Gamagira, enhancing rural mobility and trade. In the areas of water and education, he has provided solar-powered water facilities and constructed classroom blocks at Government Secondary School, Garun Kurama.

His empowerment and social welfare programmes have reached thousands of constituents. Through targeted initiatives, he has distributed sewing machines, grinding machines, and tricycles to women and youths, benefiting about 5,000 people. He has also supported agriculture by distributing over 100,000 bags of NPK fertiliser and facilitated employment opportunities in federal institutions and security agencies.

Professionally trained as a petroleum and natural gas engineer, Hon. Munir holds a B.Sc. degree in the field. He is popularly regarded as a “servant-leader” and is fondly called “Rakumi da Akala” (The camel and its lead), a nickname that reflects his strong grassroots presence and consistent engagement across Lere communities. Through his legislative work, infrastructure development, and empowerment initiatives, Rt. Hon. Engr. Ahmed Munir continues to play a significant role in advancing socio-economic growth in Kaduna State and Nigeria at large.
