About Siminalayi Fubara

Sir Siminalayi “Sim” Joseph Fubara, GSSRS, is the Governor of Rivers State, sworn in on May 29, 2023, for his first term. Born on January 28, 1975, in Opobo Town, he holds a B.Sc. in Business Education (Accountancy), a Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting, and both M.Sc. and MBA degrees.

Fubara spent 18 years in the state civil service, serving as Director of Finance and Accounts, Permanent Secretary, and Accountant General. Originally a PDP member, he joined the APC in December 2025.

His administration prioritizes infrastructure and development, approving the ₦1.854 trillion “Budget of Resilience for Growth and Development” in early 2026. He is a Knight of Saint Christopher (KSC), holds the traditional title Amaopu-Senibo of Opobo, and is married to Valerie Fubara with three children.
