Reverend Amos Kumai Yohanna is a Nigerian theologian, administrator, and politician who currently serves as the Senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District in the 10th National Assembly. He was initially elected under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and assumed office on October 25, 2023, after the Court of Appeal overturned the earlier election result and declared him the rightful winner. He later defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Born on June 4, 1961, in Mubi North, Adamawa State, Yohanna has a strong academic background in theology and education. He holds a Diploma in Theology from the Theological College of Northern Nigeria, a Bachelor of Divinity from Makumira University College in Tanzania, a Master’s degree in Pastoral Theology, and a Diploma in Education from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

Before entering politics, he built a career in ministry, academia, and public service. He worked as a pastor and lecturer at Kulp Bible College, served as Executive Secretary of the Adamawa State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board from 2002 to 2007, and later became Director of Operations at the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission, from which he retired in 2021.

Yohanna entered active politics in 2021 and contested for the Adamawa North senatorial seat. Following a legal challenge to the election outcome, the Court of Appeal in Abuja, on October 16, 2023, declared him the winner. In the Senate, he serves as Chairman of the Committee on Culture and Tourism and is actively involved in promoting development initiatives within his constituency.
