About Garba Musa Maidoki

Garba Musa Maidoki is a Nigerian educator and politician currently serving as the Senator for Kebbi South in the 10th National Assembly. He spent over three decades in education, beginning his career as a full-time teacher in 1972 before retiring to pursue politics.

Maidoki entered politics as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party and contested his first major election in 2023. He won a notable victory over the incumbent Senator Bala Ibn Na'Allah of the All Progressives Congress, securing 75,232 votes to Na'Allah’s 70,785. His legislative focus includes education reform, rural development, and improving military capacity to tackle insecurity in Kebbi State, particularly in response to banditry attacks in the Zuru and Yauri Emirates.

On May 13, 2025, Maidoki, along with Senators Muhammad Adamu Aliero and Yahaya Abubakar Abdullahi, officially defected from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress. They cited internal leadership crises and a lack of unity within the PDP as the primary reasons for their departure. In the Senate, he now serves as Chairman of the Committee on Legislative Compliance and is a vocal supporter of President Bola Tinubu’s "Renewed Hope" agenda. His work emphasizes strengthening security, advancing educational initiatives, and promoting sustainable rural development projects across his constituency.
