Kogi state | Senator
Isah Jibrin, popularly known as Echocho (born February 28, 1960), is a Nigerian banker, economist, and politician serving his second term as Senator for Kogi East in the 10th National Assembly. He was born in Anyigba, Dekina LGA, Kogi State, and holds extensive academic qualifications in economics, energy, and business administration, including first-class and postgraduate degrees and a PhD in Economics.
Before politics, he had a notable banking career, working with Chase Merchant Bank and Afribank International, where he rose to Managing Director/CEO of AIL Securities Limited. His commitment to youth employment earned him the nickname “Echocho.”
Entering politics in 2011, he was elected to the Senate in 2019 and re-elected in 2023 on the APC platform. In the 10th Senate, he chairs the Committee on Customs, Excise, and Tariff and serves as Vice Chairman of the North Central Development Commission Committee. He is also recognized for large-scale empowerment programs, philanthropy in education through the Isah Memorial School, and advocacy for human capital development and infrastructure in Kogi East.
