Kwara State | Senator
Mallam Saliu Mustapha (born September 25, 1972) is a prominent Nigerian politician, engineer, and philanthropist. As of 2026, he serves as the
Senator for Kwara Central Senatorial District in the 10th National Assembly. He holds the prestigious traditional title of Turaki of the Ilorin Emirate.
He was born in Ilorin, Kwara State, and attended schools in Wusasa, Zaria, and Kaduna, later studying Mineral Resources Engineering at Kaduna Polytechnic. Mustapha has been involved in Nigerian politics for over two decades, holding positions in parties like the Progressive Action Congress (PAC) and the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP). He played a role in the formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2013. As Senator for Kwara Central, he chairs and vice-chairs several committees.
He founded the Saliu Mustapha Foundation, which supports education and poverty alleviation initiatives. Projects facilitated by the foundation include scholarships and infrastructure development.
Senator Mustapha is a devout Muslim, married with children, and speaks several Nigerian languages. In early 2026, he was made an honorary member of the NBA Ilorin Branch Hall of Fame.
