The Independent National Electoral Commission has finally given the nod for the merger of the leading opposition parties in the country- Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) and the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) .  The parties formed the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the efforts to provide a formidable challenge for the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2015 elections.
